You may have read in one of our last blog posts that in future we will be asking our guests to contribute 50 Euros per person per day of their stay with us to the on-board fund. Some non-sailors may have wondered what the point of this is. And what you actually get for it.
The contribution to the on-board cash box is expressly not a charter fee. For a catamaran like La Ola, this would probably be somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 Euros per person per week. Depending on the area and season, it can also be double that. No, we do not charge a charter fee, as we only take family, friends and acquaintances on board as guests.
As a guest, you pay your share of the maintenance on board with the on-board cash box. This includes the cost of breakfast, meals, fresh fruit and snacks, local expenses (port fees, electricity, water, diesel and tourist taxes if applicable) and drinks such as water, beer and wine. Yes, a glass of champagne and a sundowner are also included in the drinks. This means that your stay on board is virtually all-inclusive. The safety equipment (life jacket), bedding and the use of SUP and snorkeling equipment are also included.
The on-board cash box saves us the hassle of calculating back and forth for purchases and also covers the cost of items that are already on board.
Incidentally, your individual expenses for restaurant visits, rental cars or sightseeing activities, for example, are not included in the contribution to the on-board cash box. Neither, of course, are your arrival and departure costs.
If we find that you only consume water and bread, we will of course be happy to adjust the on-board cash amount individually. The same applies, however, if you want a bottle of champagne, oysters and lobster every day. But then in the other direction…
